The Gap Filler
THE GAP FILLER
I always remember a friend’s advice, “Whenever a gap is created, God will always fill it”.
Let’s take a look at a few gaps that exist…
The GAP between HIM and US
There was never meant to be a GAP between God and us. His desire was always for perfect community and an INTIMACY with us. In the Old and New Testament, God’s desire has always been to be our God and for us to be his people.
Leviticus 26v12 (ESV)
I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.
2 Corinthians 6v16 (TPT)
… I will make my home in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
Throughout the Old Testament, we see gaps that happened, starting with Adam and Eve, gaps continued through the Old Testament, until Jesus…
John 3v16 (TPT)
For this is how much God loved the world – he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.
A gap that had existed for too long between God and us was closed once and for all by Jesus. Thank you Jesus, for closing the biggest gap of all!
The GAPS WITHIN US
From a place of INTIMACY with God, we discover our IDENTITY and in turn, our INHERITANCE. But if there is a gap in our INTIMACY, it can create gaps in our IDENTITY, our INHERITANCE, and in our thinking.
2 Corinthians 12v9 (TPT)
…he answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak, I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me.
My little 2-year girl has picked up a new habit during lockdown. She wakes up, gets dressed puts on her Supergirl cape & mask with a tiara and walks around the house saying “I am a princess, I am strong.” She declares it, she believes it, I mean she really believes it, and she acts like it. She is totally convinced that she is a princess.
What gap is there in your identity? What do you need to start declaring, believing & acting?
The GAP between YOU and ME
We all come into relationships with each other (friendships, marriage etc.) with a set of expectations and hope. When those hopes/expectations aren’t met, a gap is created.
We have a choice as to what we fill that gap with. We can fill it with legalism, intolerance, rejection, discrimination and judgement – but this will never close the gap. Or we can follow Jesus’ example and fill the gap with truth, acceptance, kindness, love and grace.
What gaps do you need to fill?
The GAP that God asks us to fill
From a place of INTIMACY and then INHERITANCE (IDENTITY) comes a wanting to INFLUENCE the world for His Glory, filling the gap that God is asking us to fill here on earth.
Maybe there is a gap at home, a gap in your gateway, a gap in justice…
What GAP do you see? What GAP is God asking you to fill?
WHENEVER A GAP IS CREATED, GOD IS FAITHFUL TO ALWAYS FILL IT.
